Your Health & Wellness is Priority During COVID-19

disease prevention Bedford TX

We know that 2020 has been an incredibly unique year for our world’s health. The COVID-19 pandemic has no doubt touched each of our lives in big and small ways, making each daily decision just a little bit more challenging and the future just a little bit more uncertain.

Thankfully, there are many things we have learned that we can do to navigate these challenges: social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands often, and staying home when we are experiencing symptoms, just to name a few. It’s also never been more critical to have a firm understanding of your own personal health – how your body functions best when it’s well and how to quickly identify when your body is needing attention. That’s where we come in! Today we’re going to talk about why regular wellness check-ups have never been more important and how we are taking unique, important steps to better serve you.

Safe, Clean Appointment Spaces

We have taken several steps at our clinics to ensure that your visits with us are safe and well-sanitized. That means that – on top of all the standard methods of disease prevention Bedford TX requires – we have added even more preventative measures. (offices also located in Benbrook, Boyd, Justin & Flower Mound)  This includes:

  • Frequent daily cleanings of common waiting areas, exam rooms and restrooms
  • All staff and patients are required to be screened upon entering our clinics
  • All staff and patients are required to wear masks while providing/receiving care
  • Sanitizing stations have been placed in multiple locations within our building
  • Social distancing is being practiced in waiting areas
  • Staggering appointment times to minimize waiting in common areas

We understand that, even with all these precautions, coming in to see the doctor may still feel like a risk. That’s why we are also offering virtual appointments, called Telemedicine – as an alternative to our traditional in-person setting. To learn more about our Telemedicine option, contact us and one of our clinic staff will walk you through the process as well as answer any questions you may have about this approach.

Preventative Care

At Your Family Medical, we make it a priority to ensure that every patient leaves their appointments with a better understanding of what their body needs to function at its very best. To that end, it is important that each patient is aware of the ways they may be vulnerable to experiencing more severe symptoms if they contract COVID-19. Some chronic conditions that this may be true of include:

  • Diabetes or prediabetes
  • Obesity
  • Heart disease
  • Asthma or other lung conditions such as COPD
  • High blood pressure

If you or a loved one has any of these chronic conditions, be sure to schedule a wellness check with your primary care physician so you can ensure you are doing all you can to preserve your health. If you don’t already have a primary care physician, we have several Bedford doctors accepting new patients (offices also located in Benbrook, Boyd, Justin & Flower Mound) who would be happy to walk you through this challenging time!

Boost Your Immune System

Some of the best ways to help your body successfully fight off infection start with small, simple changes in your day-to-day routines. It’s all about living a healthy lifestyle rather than looking for a gimmick or a quick fix. If you don’t already have a plan in place to put your health first, our care team recommends trying one or two of these ideas to get yourself off to a good start:

  • Include a vegetable or fruit with each meal in your day
  • Drink a glass of water with each meal
  • Get active – try going for a 20-30 minute walk 3-5 times a week
  • Don’t smoke
  • If you do drink, be sure to only drink in moderation
  • Get enough sleep
  • Take steps to manage your stress
